Mayor announces findings from Brother’s Keeper summit

Mayor Michael Nutter said recently the findings from Philadelphia’s My Brother’s Keeper Local Action Summit included increasing access to high-quality early education, providing additional out-of-school time activities for youth and engaging youth in the process of developing solutions to their challenges.

The Summit was held on Nov. 12 at the West Philadelphia Community Center in the Mantua neighborhood, a Promise Zone designated by President Barack Obama. Nutter attended the summit, which brought together more than 130 representatives from the nonprofit, public, private, community and philanthropic sectors — including U.S. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx — to improve outcomes for boys and young men of color in Philadelphia.
